What exactly is a springsuit and how does it differ from a full wetsuit?
A springsuit is a lighter, more flexible version of a traditional wetsuit, designed for warmer water conditions. It provides the essential benefits of neoprene insulation and protection while allowing for greater mobility and breathability, making it perfect for springtime surfing, triathlons, and other water activities. A wetsuit fully covers the arms and legs and is meant for colder conditions.
What water temperature range is ideal for using a springsuit?
Springsuits are best suited for water temperatures between 18°C to 24°C (64°F to 75°F). They offer sufficient warmth and protection without causing overheating, making them ideal for early spring, late summer, and temperate climates.
How should I care for and maintain my springsuit?
After each use, rinse your springsuit with fresh water to remove salt, chlorine and debris. Hang it in a shaded, well-ventilated area to dry and avoid direct sunlight. For a deeper clean, use a wetsuit-specific cleaner and gently handwash to preserve its flexibility and fit. Visit our blog for more information
Will a springsuit stretch or lose its shape over time?
Springsuits, like all neoprene gear, may naturally stretch with regular use. However, proper sizing and maintenance help retain the original shape and performance. Choosing a high-quality springsuit designed for durability ensures it remains supportive and snug throughout its lifespan.
When should I wear a springsuit?
Springsuits are ideal in water temperatures between 18–22°C (64–72°F)— Ideal for spring, summer, or tropical adventures.
What thickness should a springsuit be?
Most high-quality springsuits are 1.5–2mm thick, offering light insulation and excellent flexibility. Our WALLIEN Yulex® Springsuits are made from plant-based rubber and offer exceptional warmth for their weight.
Are springsuits good for surfing?
Yes! They’re a favorite among surfers for summer sessions. WALLIEN’s springsuits feature GBS seams, reinforced stress points, and strategic panelling for superior performance in the water.
Can I use a springsuit for swimming?
Absolutely. Our springsuits are popular for year-round ocean swimming, giving light warmth and sun protection without restricting movement.
Are WALLIEN springsuits eco-friendly?
Yes. Most of our springsuits are made with neoprene-free Yulex® natural rubber, reducing carbon emissions by 80%. It’s performance gear with a conscience.
Which springsuit is best for open water or outdoor swimming?
Look for lightweight springsuits with flexible seams and minimal bulk. Our Yulex® Springsuits are designed for movement and warmth, making them ideal for open water dips all year round.
What should I do if my springsuit feels too tight or too loose?
If the suit feels too tight, avoid forcing it on to prevent damaging the neoprene. Conversely, if it’s too loose, you might consider using adjustable straps or layering with a wetsuit vest for a more secure fit. If adjustments don’t help, it may be best to exchange it for a better-fitting option.
